We know that visiting a church for the first time can be a daunting thing. So we thought we’d try to ease your mind a little by letting you in on a few things that might help make your first trip to Bannockburn a great experience …
There’s a campus location and a Growth Group that’s just for you.
At our South Austin campus, the morning worship service is at 11AM in the Worship Center, with Growth Groups taking place at 9:30AM all over the campus. These Growth Groups are Bible studies that are relevant to your life while based soundly on the Bible. At our Dripping Springs campus, Growth Groups take place at 9:30AM and the morning worship service is at 11AM. At our Manor campus, Growth Groups take place at 9:30AM and the morning worship service is at 11AM.
The interior is more important than the exterior.
We’re not about a dress code. Those who attend Bannockburn might wear jeans or they might wear a suit and tie. If you’re more at home in a T-shirt, then that’s the perfect choice. We’re more interested in what’s going on inside than the suit coat on the outside.
You’re so welcome, we can’t help but show it.
At the door, we’ll greet you. We can’t help ourselves. It can be scary being the visitor, but once through the doors, you’re family. We even have a Welcome Center at each of our campuses that is dedicated to answering your questions about classes and letting you know you’re home. Stop by and say hello … we’d love to meet you!
Big or small, there’s room for all.
Even the smallest person has a place at Bannockburn. From newborns through high school seniors, there is a class made especially for them. Bring your kids and get them plugged into a great environment. Your family is part of our family.
The joy is in the journey, but you have to park sometime.
We’ll admit that parking can be a challenge on a busy Sunday morning. There are options, though! At our South Austin campus, look for guest parking in our main lot at the corner of Brodie and Convict Hill. As those spaces fill up, we encourage people to utilize the south parking lot (Convict Hill side) and the Bannockburn/Walgreen’s parking lot (enter from either William Cannon or Brodie). At our Dripping Springs campus, we’ve got designated parking up front just for you! Look for the signs that say guest parking. There’s room for you!
We have our own perks.
Need your morning java? We can relate! You’re welcome to bring your grande half-caff soy latte with you to enjoy at Bannockburn. At our South Austin campus, we have coffee available in the Worship Center foyer (behind the stone wall) at 10:30AM with ample places to meet friends. At our Dripping Springs campus, we designate 10:30AM each Sunday morning as a time to enjoy coffee together between Growth Groups and the worship service.
Bannockburn Baptist Church was born on a warm Sunday afternoon in May of 1973. We met in schools and borrowed buildings before moving into our own building. Pastor Jim Abington, our Senior Pastor at the time, set the tone for the church. He emphasized Biblical preaching, prayer, and a Spirit-led ministry. In 2004, Ryan Rush was called to be the Senior Pastor of Bannockburn and he quickly brought a new passion for connecting church life with home life. “Inspiring Generations” became a driving concept, and a high priority to continue to teach the Word of God and connecting all age groups together came out of it. Today, our mission is to guide generations to be passionate followers of Jesus Christ, one home at a time.
For over 40 years, we have worshipped at the same location at the corner of Brodie Lane and Bannockburn Drive. That powerful vision that we started with has led to reaching people for Christ in Central Texas — and around the world — and the church has grown along with the community surrounding it. We’ve changed from a small church down a road far south in Austin to a life-giving body right in the heart of one of Austin’s fastest-growing areas. As a part of this growth, God has blessed us with multiple campuses across central Texas, including our Dripping Springs campus and our Manor campus. Bannockburn is truly one church in multiple locations and by God’s grace continues to grow.
